Charming antique style reverse glass painting depicting a romantic Victorian courting couple seated beneath a tree in a garden landscape. Executed in the traditional reverse painted glass technique in the manner of verre églomisé, and housed in an attractive gilt moulded frame.
An inscription to the lower edge appears to read ‘Copied 1885 by Homer Tisdale Gustin’ (or similar), adding to the decorative and historical appeal of the piece. The soft romantic palette, luminous glass surface, and period costume detail give the work a distinctly French and Victorian character.
A highly decorative cabinet-sized artwork, ideal for French country, cottage, or traditional interiors.
Condition
