Product Description
An exceptionally decorative and finely cast Victorian brass desk stand, dating to the late 19th century (circa 1870–1890), combining a double inkwell and integrated letter holder within an elaborate classical design.
The pierced backplate serves as a letter rack, richly adorned with intricate openwork featuring a central cherub, scrolling foliage, and flanking dolphins motifs typical of the Victorian classical revival. The base is equally ornate, with engraved detailing and a shaped apron, raised on elegant feet.
To either side sit two lidded inkwells with finely detailed domed covers, creating a balanced and highly decorative composition. The piece retains a beautiful aged patina, with warm golden tones and darker accents that highlight the depth and quality of the casting.
Both functional and ornamental, this is a superb desk piece ideal for a study, library, or collector of period writing implements. It perfectly reflects the craftsmanship and decorative richness of the Victorian era.
Condition
Good antique condition, with age related wear and patina consistent with use.
