Product Description
A decorative mid 20th century Staffordshire style stone china foot bath in the Victorian taste, produced as a reproduction of earlier 19th century wares. Of classic oval form with integral side handles, the piece is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue transferware depicting an architectural landscape with figures, animals, and classical buildings, with a matching central interior vignette.
The underside bears an indistinct Royal Arms style mark inspired by 19th century Staffordshire pottery marks, though the mark is decorative rather than attributable to a specific Victorian maker. This type of reproduction was popular during the mid 20th century, reflecting continued interest in traditional English blue and white ceramics.
With its generous proportions and attractive decorative appeal, the piece works beautifully as a planter, display bowl, or decorative object within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Condition
Good vintage condition, with no cracks. Minor age-related wear to the base and light glaze wear consistent with use.
