Product Description
Decorative Continental landscape painting on convex board, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, presented in an ornate Rococo Revival gilt composition frame with oval aperture. The painting depicts a romantic, idealised landscape with trees, water, and distant mountains, rendered in soft, atmospheric tones typical of decorative interior artworks of the period.
The gently convex surface is intentional and period-correct, designed to enhance depth and light reflection when displayed. The richly detailed frame features scrolling foliate ornament and retains a warm, aged gilt patina. The reverse shows an original board backing with surface wear and an old hanging fitting, consistent with age and use.
